The Quiz

The following are your scores. They are based on a gradual range of 0 to 12. For instance, a Conservative/Progressive score of 3 and 0 will both yield a result of social conservative, yet 0 would be an extreme conservative and 3 a moderate conservative

Conservative/Progressive score: 4
You are a social moderate. You think the progressive movement is overall well meaning, but sometimes it goes too far. On issues like abortion and affirmative action, you see the negatives of both extremes on the issue. You probably value religion, but at the same time you think it should still stay separate from the government

Capitalist Purist/Social Capitalist score: 10
You're a Social Capitalist, you think that, left to its own, Capitalism leaves a lot of people behind. You think that Health Care should be free to all, that the minimum wage should be raised, and that the government should provide jobs to all that are capable of having them. You likely hated the Bush tax cuts, and believe that the middle class has gotten poorer, and the rich have gotten richer over the past several years. The far extreme of social capitalism is socialism.

Libertarian/Authoritarian score: 3
You are libertarian. You think that the government is making way too many unnecessary laws that are taking away our innate rights. You believe that the government's job is primarily to protect people from harming other people, but after that they should mind their own business, and if we give the government too much power in controlling our lives, it can lead to fascism.

Pacifist/Militarist score: 4
You're a Moderate. You think that in very rare occasions, the United States should invade a country in order to make the world better by spreading democracy or ending a tyrants rule. You also think that defense is very important, and we shouldn't lower the defense budget. You think that, while the Iraq War probably was a mistake, that we can make the world a better place by sticking with it and spreading democracy in the middle east.

Overall, you would most likely fit into the category of Democrat

i don't normally read these types of bulletins, let alone write one myself or pass it on to folks, but I think this is way overdo. If you have a few moments, please read the above cnn article. If you can't I will summarize: WALMART IS THE DEVIL.
A woman is part of the walmart healthcare plan, gets in a horrible accident and is left wheelchair bound, brain damaged and living in a nursing home. The family is awarded 1 million in damages. After the bloodsucking attorney's are paid, there is 417k left in a trust for her long term care. Walmart is SUING THEM for the 477k they paid out in medical expenses. Third quarter sales for WalMart were 90 BILLION DOLLARS. Just taker a sec to put that in perspective.

the article really is much more informative, but please join me in sending this to EVERYONE you know and ask them to NEVER shop at WalMart again. I hear people say "but they have low prices" well, if you live here in indiana for example, you can shop JUST AS CHEAPLY at Meijer with few exceptions. I used to go to WalMart as seldom as possible. Now I will NEVER be going there.

Please get on the wagon with this. My personal goal is to cost them at least a few million dollars in sales every quarter. They may get their 477k back from the Shank family, but I want it to come at such a price they never do this kind of thing to another family ever again.

2008 Presidential Candidate Matching Quiz

i had a realization this morning. Well, not just this morning, but kind of a re-realization of something. Time really slips away from us. I mean, I knew this all along...we all do. To some extent at least. But it really crystallized for me this morning. I have lived my life so far with the "someday, i would like to ____" thought process. I just realized I am 32 and very few of my "fill in the blanks" dreams have been realized. And it's mostly my fault! By just living my life and thinking I have all the time in the world to take a certain trip, or meet my fitness goals or work in the career I want. Well, that may be day to day life, but it isn't living.

What do you do when life interferes with living?

Things have been kinda mixed up lately, but they seem to be straightening out. Thanks to everyone, that knew, for their prayers or thoughts for Teddy. He had his surgery last week and seems to be doing okay. A friend of a friend pretty much owns the biopsy lab, so his results are on the fast track. Everyone cross their fingers that it isn't cancer!

On the job front...I started a new job (finally!) at Allstate, but Safeco wanted to interview me. I had to take a 3k+ pay cut for the job at Allstate, but you do what you have to do. After interviewing with Safeco today, they offered me a better job than the Allstate position and about 2k more than i made when i left! so that worked out well.

Now I have to drive to Tenn this weekend to pick up my mom and come home. Luckily I get to drive her car and not my lame Saturn! lol AND the dogs get to come with me! lol

With the new Safeco job, I can really look forward to moving back downtown! A roommate may not be out of the question, not sure yet. Let me know if anyone has any prospects!

some photos i like. it's almost fall (when i took the 1st pic) and winter is just around the corner. my favorite times of the year!

Okay, I am somewhat over MySpace. It's fun and all, but it's a little middle/high school to me. Anyway, I think I like this place more for putting down my thoughts and feelings and the MySpace for when i feel like running for Prom King or something.

Anyway. I anticipate plenty of time for contemplation since my job went bye-bye to India. Yeah, and I don't even work in a call center. I guess even menial insurance company clerical work is apt to be sent overseas.

It is now day 2 of not having a job to go to. It's kind of weird. I guess I should be thankful I am getting paid for, basically, 2+ months for doing nothing. It still makes me worry.

Why is it life lists along for like, 4 years, and suddenly goes all to hell in like the same 2 week period or so? One of my best friends in the world moved to Chicago. Unlike Bill, I know Shaun and I will remain "sisters" and not lose touch. He was a much better person to start with than Bill ever thought about being. And a much truer friend. Justin's kid is being born today, probably. Yeah, it's pointless to have ever had feelings for him, but there ya go. I'm an idiot. But if he's totally straight, I will convert to being a fucking Republican. I just know that things between us will not be the same, even if he thinks otherwise. We're supposed to be working together on this advertising/marketing business that we have talked about for a long time. I just wonder if I am not making a mistake. I just wonder how much of the "nuclear family" will be crammed down my throat. No amount of happy pills will let me deal with that. I mean, in the 5 or so years we have known each other, I have met his wife once. And that was at the wedding he guilted me into going to. is it me, or does that seem fishy?  I dunno. I've never had a stronger desire to move away and never look at this city again. But the some of same things that make me want to leave also tether me to the place. It's infuriating.

On the brighter side, Lucy is being a LOT nicer to the new dog. His name is Teddy. He really is a sweetheart. I know he is happy to finally be out of the rescue and in a "forever" home. He just gets so overjoyed when I (used to) come home from work. It's just makes you smile when he looks at you like his whole world revolves around you.

I guess it's nice to be needed by someone, even if it is a couple of dogs.

did anyone see Another Gay Movie?
saw it last night. i felt like a middle school kid giggling at the poop and dick jokes. but it was hilarious i thought. people give it bad reviews. c'mon! not EVERYTHING has to have a point or a real plot. i thought it was just a fun 90 minutes.

I'll never be able to hear "belgian chocolate" and not giggle.

have a great weekend!

okay. i'm not Catholic. but the more i read about this whole fiasco about his speech, the more pissed off i get. First and foremost, who the hell is the Catholic Church to call someone else violent?! WTF?! that Church is responsible for more bloodshed and murder than any other institution in the world. with the exception, possibly, of islam. Notice the reactions his words have caused in the muslim world. muslims consider Christians to be infidels. do we burn effigies of mohammad in return? do we riot in the streets? no.  sure, we had the crusades, but that was HUNDREDS of years ago. get over it. no, i think the reaction shows the exact, true nature of islam. it is a violent religion born of a violent culture to a violent people. am i stereotyping? damn right, i am. are there moderates in islam. i am sure there are. just as there are extremists in Catholicism. the difference is in the numbers. if i had one real wish, it's be that we had a totally renewable energy source in this country and we could let the Middle East choke on their oil and let them go fuck themselves. i'm a little disappointed in Israel this time around though. Look how they kicked ass in, what 1967? i was hoping for a repeat performance. someday they will learn that ya just don't fuck with the jews. To bad Lebanon was one of the more civil nations over there. I would have picked Syria over Lebanon.

okay. i haven't been here regularly for awhile. lol
i got my new uber computer from Dell. it is cool. me loves it lots. I got my CS2 and Macromedia Studio 8 installed. woohoo!

have i mentioned the 24 inch monitor? i love it as well. i find myself looking at the 30 in monitors with a scary amount of longing. lol

anyway. life is rolling along. Settled into the new place pretty well. in my infinite ability to procrastinate, there are still boxes of things in the garage that need to be unpacked and haven't. Seriously, if there is a box with like 15 pairs of shoes out there, and i haven't missed them, were they needed in the first place?!

Been hanging out a little more with Bill. This makes me really happy. I just hope he doesn't get a job in chicago or some other crap like that. i hope to have him along with me at Big Dave and Crazy Sandy's house for 31st birthday cookout.  I hope he can make it. Justin has been causing the usual issues, but it doesn't bother me anymore. he chose his life and I have my own to lead. I have also been talking with and hanging out with Kraig a lot more. He is fun. We hang out like we never did when he was dating Shaun. I mean, i love Shaun and all and am glad he is happy with the new guy (that i have yet to meet!) but Kraig is a lot more crazy and off the wall when he is unhitched! lol

Summer semester was good. B's in both classes. I am looking forward to this fall semester. I am really liking my Photoshop experience and all. I find it very interesting.

anyway...other than people getting eliminated errr...sorry "laid off" at every turn at work, life is going well.

i hope it continues to!
